Our mission is to provide the world with the ability to use surveillance not only as a security measure, but also as a research tool.
Henderson Security has had a footprint in Ottawa and the surrounding area goes back almost 60 years. Our founder Bob Henderson started Universal Alarms in the Byward Market back in 1959. We are proud to say that Universal Alarms was the first electronic security company in Eastern Canada.
In 1977, Bob Henderson founded the Canadian Alarm and Security Association (CANASA). CANASA, also known as the Canadian Security Association, is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the security industry. It is the national voice to speak on behalf of security companies of all sizes and areas of expertise. Today CANASA is the main voice of our industry, boasting over 11,000 active members in ten regions across Canada.
Doug was born in Ottawa in 1959, the same year Doug's father founded Universal Alarms – one of the first family-owned electronic security companies in Canada. In 1977, Doug went into the family business full time and 46 years later still loves what he does. The Henderson Family are pioneers in the Canadian electronic security industry. In 1977, Doug's Dad, Bob Henderson founded The Canadian Alarm and Security Association, CANADA.
His vision was to create a regulatory body for security companies across Canada to include industry ethics, training, certification and to have a single voice for security professionals. Doug has carried his fathers vision and morals throughout his career and continues to provide the best buying experience for his customers.
Troy's story is one of perseverance and hard work paying off in the end. Growing up in the car business in Newfoundland, he learned the value of dedication and commitment from a young age. After moving to Ottawa and working in car sales for a few years, he found his true calling with Henderson Security in 2006. Starting in residential sales and later moving to commercial sales in 2009, Troy's passion for the business shone through, earning him a promotion to Vice President in 2014, and then to President and Part Owner in 2017.
Troy's happy family life is also a source of joy for him, living in Aylmer, QC with his wife and two young boys. He loves nothing more than watching his boys play hockey in the winter and soccer in the summer, knowing that all his hard work has allowed him to provide for his family and enjoy the things that truly matter in life.
